Instructor Bio: Linda Nitzen has over 631K sewing related YouTube views and is the owner and founder of Sewing 101. With her mother?s guidance, she learned to sew and embroider by the age of 9. Her skills improved during middle school and high school taking as many sewing classes offered. She made clothing and pillows, but it is quilting that caught her passion. She made her first quilt in high school by techniques she?d gleaned along the way. This was the time before the internet and beyond her mother?s expertise. She was hooked and began teaching anyone who was interested in learning. While her boys were in elementary school, she and the school secretary started an afterschool program teaching 4th and 5th graders to quilt. Parents from other schools contacted Linda to offer the same course at their school which developed into travelling sewing machines and kids learning sewing skills while quilting in her 10 week course. It was a very rewarding adventure. She discovered that many of her student?s parents never learned to sew, so she created an evening Mom?s class. In 2011, a job opportunity presented itself that Linda could not pass up. She was offered the Sales and Marketing Manager at Sizzix, the craft division of Ellison. The parent company makes die-cutting shapes and machines for schools worldwide and was furthering its development into the sewing and quilting markets. This experience took Linda into different states and multiple countries teaching sewing and quilting. She learned that sewing is a universal language.
